If you have walked around here in these halls before, you have probably heard the shrill alarm screeching. You have also probably seen kids laughing at people who got caught by the alarm. You would typically think those people getting in trouble were mindless and doing it for attention or just to be cool. If you have thought this before, you wouldn't want to go into the common bathroom after hours. If you do, you could randomly hear someone imitating the alarm’s shrill call, that my friends, is Alarm Boy.
Years ago, there was someone that had a decent year. He had some friends, good grades, and even looked good. You would think he was perfect, only there was one problem. You see, this person had some problems. At the time, there was a special thing going around that the students called ‘Soul Soda,’ and it is supposed to break you free from the binds of reality. The school didn't like that cause it causes a lot of trouble, so they put in alarms in places where Soul Soda would be passed around.
The alarms didn't go off often, but whenever they did, everyone would know that person was involved. So much so that everyone started calling him Alarm Boy. It was embarrassing and he quickly grew ashamed.
Whenever Alarm Boy wasn't giving or receiving Soul Soda, the only other thing calming him down was his keyboard in his room. He had learned all his favorite songs by heart on that thing. He would spend hours learning new songs, but now, he barely feels like turning it on.
One day, Alarm Boy had finally had enough of everyone’s comments in the halls. He told himself that he would finally put Soul Soda behind him for good, but he wanted to have one last time. He went to his favorite spot and enjoyed the blessing of escaping everything that
was bothering him. Suddenly, Alarm Boy heard the alarm and someone coming in. He knew there wouldn't be time to escape, and hiding the last of the Soul Soda was pointless.
It was going to be a risk, but he had no choice but to ‘hypercharge’ or go over the recommended serving. Alarm Boy didn't feel anything different at first, but as people were about to catch him, a portal formed from under him, sucking him away. In the reality of the situation, he was gone. It was a real shame too. He could have had a great life, but he just couldn't find the strength to be helped by the people he thought weren't on his side.
Today, you can still hear him imitating the alarm’s awful sound, occasionally to the tune of his favorite song. Perhaps you can learn it, and you might be able to communicate through it.
